2018 Genesis G80 in Santiago SilverThe 2018 Genesis G80 and 2018 Lexus ES 350 can certainly both be considered as powerhouses in the luxury sedan category. It's easy to see why, thanks to their outstanding performance, gorgeous interior amenities, and safety features.

Genesis of West Columbia has created this vehicle comparison to provide a closer look at these two luxury cars for Columbia, Lexington, and Irmo drivers.

Unforgettable Performance

2018 Genesis G80 PerformanceThe G80 was designed to provide drivers with the pure thrill of driving. There's a powerful 3.8L V6 engine, which produces a commanding 311-horsepower output. Shift using the refined 8-speed SHIFTRONIC® transmission, which allows drivers to override the automatic transmission to gain control over shifting. The standard powerplant in the Lexus ES 350 is powerful, but the 3.5L V6 maxes out at 268 horsepower.

There are actually two more engine choices available in the G80, though, giving it even more power. This includes the available 5.0L V8 engine, which produces a pavement-rattling 420 horsepower. With the HTRAC all-wheel drive system, you'll have quick response on slick roads. The active torque control adds stability and quick response.

Step Inside and Enjoy Luxury

Both the Genesis G80 and Lexus ES 350 offer luxury interior setups, and both are highly comfortable. That being said, the G80 has a bit more room, which helps taller drivers. The front carries 41.1 inches of headroom and 45.7 inches of legroom, plenty of space to stretch out on longer drives. The 2018 ES 350 only offers 37.5 inches of headroom and 41.9 inches of legroom, which works well for short trips but can get cramped on longer drives.

The high-quality material inside the Genesis G80 includes wood trim in the base model and carbon-fiber trim in the Sport model. Regardless of the trim chosen, the seats will be leather and heated, too, which makes for a more comfortable drive when the weather outside isn't cooperating. The ES 350, on the other hand, only makes leather available in its highest trims, and the same goes for the heated seats.

Safety Features

2018 Genesis G80 Technology FeaturesBoth cars performed well in safety testing, with the IIHS giving the Genesis G80 the TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, as the Lexus ES 350 took home a TOP SAFETY PICK rating. Both vehicles come with a standard rearview camera, which permits drivers to see what's going on when backing up.

Beyond the rearview camera, there are advanced driver assistance features designed to make your life a bit easier. Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control can be found in both cars. However, only the 2018 G80 features driver attention alerts. Fatigue can play a role in driving and accidents, so the Genesis G80 can detect when there are abnormalities when it comes to steering or driving and warn you with audio and visual cues.
